What is MSP?
To put it simply, MSP international school is a preschool course offered completely in English. Opened in 2001 as the first immersion style school in Matsuyama City , the school was opened with the intention of providing an international school experience in a less urban setting. MSP operates as a preperatory school, allowing Japanese children to learn English much as a native speaking child would in America or Europe. Our graduates are ready to attend such international schools. In addition, for students who have graduated from an international preschool, are returning to Japan from overseas, or are already bilingual, we offer an English conversation program for elementary-aged children.

What is the MSP “Immersion Education”?

At MSP, the framework of learning English is completely different from the usual Japanese style school.
; We educate children with the ability to communicate in English.
The word “immersion” expresses the idea of fully submersing oneself in something.
Immersion education does the same thing, placing a child in a completely English enviroment so that the student isn’t just learning English, but USING it as well.

The Particulars of MSP

MSPが推進するイマージョン教育とは?

Most individually owned English conversation schools have a tendency to stick their students in a room all day. MSP was built just like a house with a back yard, so that children can play safely and healthily. In addition, our location was chosen because of the large park that is only a three-minute walk away. In addition to using materials in the classroom, and immersing kids in English, we want them to be able to express themselves freely , and naturally acqure more English proficiency. Some might feel that trips outside the classroom, etc. aren’t necessary for learning English. However, during early childhood, when kids are learning and developing quickly we believe being stuck inside just looking at English is not so good for stimulating young minds. It’s our hope that kids can learn English through the various fun experiences they can have at our school, just like a regular Japanese kindergarten. At MSP, children enjoy the experience of venturing outside the classroom, and are encouraged to use only English, guided by our foreign and Japanese staff. Our classes are small, and emphasize each student’s independence while encouraging everyone to participate. There are a lot of activities to experience during the year as well. Children will hear old Japanese fairy tales, children’s stories, and parables. They’ll celebrate Tanabata, and the Hina Matsuri, while at the same time enjoying western traditions such as Halloween and Christmas parties. All of this will be done with a native English-speaking teacher and a fully licensed Japanese nursery staff in class, one of the benefits of attending MSP. In class, everything is done in English, but the Japanese staff fills an important role, as outside of class, children may need to communicate in Japanese. The Japanese caretaker teaches the children all the consideration, hard work, and values that as a Japanese parent, you want your child to learn.

◆MSP provides the perfect balance between a Japanese kindergarten and an English school.
